Jimmy
Lile was a former President of the Knifemakers Guild, and a knifemaker to
Senators, Presidents, and the common man, and he could talk on an intellectual
level with any of them. This was one of the reasons for his legendary
success—and also one of the reasons his knives remain in demand years after
his death. He make the knives for the first two Rambo movies. He had
unique designs including his Lilelock folders. When Jimmy was President of
the Knifemkaers Guild I felt it made it's biggest advancements in the world of

met.

In my opinion, and the opinion of many others George made the best damn deer skinning knife ever made. And he needed to from the number of deer he harvested each year. At one lodge where we were hunting I was shown a Herron knife that had skinned over 400 deer (and was still in use). His knives are among the most desired by collectors—and by anyone else who ever knew him.
George
was also a Korean War veteran, and was once on the verge of burning his tank and
walking out when the Chinese came into the war at Chosin, but a general pulled
up in a jeep and told him to put the gas cans up. "They say we're
surrounded," the general said, "that means we're gonna kill the sob's
in whatever direction we go." The general was the legendary Chesty
Puller. George told me that story one night in a South Carolina hunting
camp.

Harvey Draper was a contemporary of Buster Warenski and Gil Hibben, making quality knives until his untimely death in the crash of an experimental aircraft, one of his other hobbies. His brother Bruce Draper made knife grinders, and his son Kent became a well known quality knifemaker as well.
Steve Johnson on Harvey Draper; Harvey Draper was a
one-of-a-kind. He was a private pilot and was famous for his daring stunts, like
flying underneath power lines.... He once took me up to about 3000 feet, above
the mountains east of town, in his plane, turned off the engine and we
"glided" around for quite a while and then headed home. Of course, his
old "J3-Cub" didn't have a starter, (

Rob Brown on Rob Brown: Born and raised
in
On completion of my formal education I pursued a career as an architectural
assistant which appealed to my interest in design and practical hands-on
approach.
Always the keen hobbiest - in 1985 I was custom building fishing rods to support
my other outdoor interests when the need arose for a good working hunter. Armed
with the book, "How to make Knives" by Bob Loveless, I was introduced
to a world of knives far bigger than I could ever have imagined.
I became a member of the
"Southern African Knifemaker's Guild" in October 1986 and by the end
of 1988 took up knifemaking as a full-time occupation - the bug had truly bitten
at that stage.
I have been awarded 38 "Certificates of Excellence" for individual
knives exhibited at the annual shows and "Best Overall Knifemaker" on
5 separate occasions.
I work from a one man shop (with a good view of the ocean) building knives to
order, one at a time. My aim is to produce a wide variety of investor class,
quality fixed blade knives for the collector and discerning user, and as such
continually strive for the highest degree of craftsmanship possible.
