About the first 302 lots in this auction.
Lots 1 through Lot 302 are knives belonging to the National Knife Museum that have been determined by the NKM to either be a duplicate or one not suitable for future display.
To that end they have selected J. Bruce Voyles, Auctioneers to auction these knives so that as many of the knife collecting community as possible may have the opportunity to own some of these knives. J. Bruce Voyles, Auctioneers is not charging a commission to the NKCM for the auction, although we will charge the buyer our standard 10% buyers premium for knives paid for by check or cash. We are also sending this catalog to our entire customer list (and the catalog also goes to the entire membership of the National Knife Collectors Association as well).
All sales transactions on winning bids for lots 1-302 will be process through the NKM account and shipped direct to you by the NKM. All other lots will be processed by J. Bruce Voyles, Auctioneers and shipped by us. If you win bids in lots 1-302 and in lots 303 and higher you will be subject to two different shipping charges on the respective knives—as they will be shipped in separate packages from different locations.
Descriptions on lots 1-302 are by Tom Clark of Blue Ridge Knives and Pete Cohan, curator of the National Knife Museum. Photography was by Bruce Voyles. Knives were assembled in lots by Pete Cohan. Also providing valuable assistance in preparing these knives for auction and to whom much thanks is given is Frank (Big’en) Hensley, David Mullins, and Pat Donovan. Also our thanks to Smoky Mountain Knife Works for providing work space for the photography, sorting, and descriptions of these knives.
All monies for the net bid price (excluding the buyers premium) will go to the National Knife Museum, so the winning bid does not just get a nice knife to you—but also provides promotion for the entire knife industry by sustaining the National Knife Museum. The National Knife Museum is now independently housed within Smoky Mountain Knife Works retail location in Sevierville, TN. When in the Smoky Mountain area all knife collectors are encouraged to visit their museum—and consider that since these knives are being de-acquisitioned, every knife on exhibit there now is better than these.
Important note about the minimum bids. While we were doing this catalog we were observed by a major cutlery buyer—and he has stated he will pay the minimum bid on every lot in this auction—and has bid that amount. There are no reserves in this auction—so every knife here will sell to the highest bidder.
