Presenting the collection of Mr. G. W. Boos
Part of his auction includes knives from
estate collection of Mr. G. W. Boos of
Mr. Boos died a few years ago, and in the ensuing disposition of
his estate the knives were in storage for five years and under the supervision
of non-knife collectors who knew little of storing carbon steel knives in a
Few of the handforged knives came out unscathed, and some
have more rusting than others. In our
desire to preserve knives as close as possible to the original state as
auctioneers we limit our cleaning to semichroming, saddle soaping leather
sheaths and handles, and wiping down the blades with WD-40 to clean the rust.
We do not buff, re-etch, or alter the knives. For this reason we are
running the knives on our website in larger size to enable you to see the knives
and their condition. Also we have
tried to show both sides of the blades on the website in order to give you a
more accurate representation of the knives on which you are bidding.
